Keyboard Shortcuts
Shout uses a single global shortcut for its entire workflow.
Global shortcut
Start / Stop Recording
Press once to start marking a segment, press again to stop and transcribe.
This is the default shortcut. You can change it to any key combination in Settings.
Customizing your shortcut

Open Settings
Click the Shout icon in your menu bar, then click Settings.

Click the shortcut field
In the Shortcut section, click the current shortcut to enter recording mode.

Press your new key combination
Press the keys you want to use. Shout will detect and save the combination automatically.
Global shortcuts require the Accessibility permission. If your shortcut stops working, check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and ensure Shout is enabled.
Avoid key combinations already used by macOS or other apps. If your shortcut conflicts with another app, Shout's shortcut may not register. Common safe choices include Ctrl+Space, Ctrl+Shift+S, or Fn+F5.
