What’s new in Shout.

Every release and what it brought, newest first.

1.3.4Latest

14 October 2026

Know who said what

  • Imported files, meetings and Timeline selections come back split by speaker. Rename a speaker, click a time to play from there, and edit any turn in place.
  • Review the words Shout is least sure of, one by one, and fix or confirm each without re-listening to the whole recording.
  • Tell Shout how many people are talking, and export a transcript with speaker names as text, Markdown or subtitles.
  • Switching transcription engine now frees the old one's memory, and History updates faster.

1.3.3

13 October 2026

Long recordings without the memory bill

  • Playing back hours of audio no longer uses gigabytes of memory. A nine-hour selection now stays near 600 MB.
  • Saving, exporting and transcribing long recordings or imported files works through them a piece at a time.
  • The calendar shows today's audio too, and you can jump to any month from its title.
  • Fewer invented and repeated words in long Parakeet transcripts.

1.3.2

9 October 2026

Parakeet Ultra and scrolling back in words

  • Parakeet now runs the Ultra model: the same 25 languages at the same speed, with fewer mistakes.
  • Scroll back through what was said in words, search it, and save the text without transcribing again.
  • Move Shout to a new Mac with one backup file.
  • Recording recovers by itself when macOS audio stops answering, and the low-disk warning clears once you free space.

1.3.1

30 September 2026

Stealth mode

  • Hide Shout's bar and cards with one shortcut when you share your screen. Recording carries on.
  • The menu bar icon now shows at a glance whether recording is healthy.
  • The menu bar panel fits smaller screens.

1.3.0

13 September 2026

Transcribe files you already have

  • Bring in voice memos, call recordings, podcasts and videos, several at a time.
  • Favourites and collections, to keep hold of the conversations that mattered.
  • Waveforms you can read and zoom into, drawn the moment you open them.
  • Better time estimates, faster playback of long selections and lower memory use.

1.2.9

13 July 2026

Steadier after sleep

  • Fixed the most common cause of the app freezing.

1.2.8

1.2.7

Cards that stay put

  • The floating cards hold their position while you drag them and as new ones arrive.

  • Stability fixes for unusual audio devices.

1.2.2

Clean playback of calls

  • No more doubled voices when you listen back to a call you took on speakers.
  • Choose what you hear on playback: your mic, the other side, or both.
  • Shout notices when audio has gone quiet after a device change, and recovers.
  • Polish across the menus and floating windows.
