ShoutShout
Getting Started

Quick Start

Get up and running with Shout in under five minutes.

Shout is always recording. An always-on audio buffer continuously captures in the background (configurable from 1 to 48 hours) so you can retroactively transcribe anything — even conversations you didn't think to record.

The single-shortcut workflow

One shortcut does everything. No modes to switch, no menus to navigate.

01

Press your global shortcut

The default is Control + Space (customizable in Settings). This starts marking a segment.

02

Speak naturally

A floating orb with audio visualization appears on screen so you always know Shout is capturing.

03

Press the shortcut again

Shout stops recording the segment and begins transcribing immediately.

04

Your text appears automatically

The transcription is copied to your clipboard and shown in a notification card. Just paste it wherever you need it.

Key features

Floating Recording Orb

An on-screen audio-reactive visualization that shows recording status. Click it to stop, or drag it to reposition.

Smart Paste Modes

7 formatting modes that transform your transcription before pasting — summarize, fix grammar, rewrite as email, and more. Shout remembers your preferred mode for each app.

Menu Bar Access

Click the Shout icon in your menu bar to see recent transcriptions, access the timeline editor, and manage settings.

Tips for best results: Use a quality microphone, minimize background noise, speak at a natural pace, and enunciate clearly. Built-in Mac microphones work, but a dedicated USB mic or headset gives noticeably better accuracy.
